It strikes me that history says the opposite.

ChatGPT represents another stride toward the broader trend of convergence, aligning with how the internet, industrialization, and agriculture have historically embodied the same momentum. This convergence is characterized by a gradual reduction in uncertainties that, while reducing risks and damages, also diminishes “interestingness” in human experiences. Essentially, convergence enhances control over our environment, making it a sought-after goal and ensuring a steady progression towards it as an inevitability.

On the contrary, the value placed on divergence within this framework is much lower even though it plays a crucial role by offering new pathways for convergence. This underappreciation is evident in the modest financial rewards afforded to dancers and artists, highlighting a societal ambivalence towards divergent pursuits despite their foundational importance.
